Simon Wright’s Loop Remix of the Game of Thrones Theme

Recorded live at Harmony, Mexican Restaurant on Ios, Greek Islands August 2015 on a ZOOM Q3HD during the first leg of the #looptheworld tour.

I first came up with this in July 2015 after watching the final episode of GoT  while on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand (thanks to Kylie for the inspiration). Since then it has been a favorite amongst my audiences. Easily the most requested song I’ve ever written. I’ve promised a few crew, in particular the boys from Norway, that I’d put it up on my soundcloud so here it is.

The track is available for free download. Please take the time to comment, share and follow while you are there. Enjoy.

And while we’re here. Here is a little video of me performing the track at Choppers on Koh Tao, Thailand.

Brand new loop track – New Album coming soon.

I Wanna Hear it – Loops Album Demo by Simon Wright

In November last year I bought myself a new toy, a Boss RC-300 Loop Station. I had no idea at the time how much this little piece of technology would inspire my musical direction. I spend hours on this thing trying out grooves and progressions. For those of you that are unfamiliar with what a loop station is, basically, it’s a sampling machine that records my voice and guitar on the fly then plays it back in a continuous loop. Click here for a video of one of the worlds best know loop artists DubFx explaining his looper.

To start out with I took a few of my favorite covers and figured out ways to perform them in the loops format. I’ve always found replication a great way to learn a new instrument, and learning to loop is just like learning a new instrument. I made a few videos and a live loop cover EP and performed over 80 shows live with my looper including a string of 30 shows over 5 weeks on Koh Tao in Thailand. Click here for a free download of my loops cover EP “Live on Koh Tao” featuring Andy V on Keys, sax, backing vox and loops.

Now that I’m familiar with my looper, it’s time to start getting into the real stuff. There is still a lot to learn but the skills I’ve picked up so far are enough to get the creative juices flowing. The video above is the first demo for my new album of loops. I’ll be writing a bunch of new material and also reworking some of the older stuff as well as collaborating with some talented crew. Please feel free to get in contact with feedback, ideas, album names, collaboration suggestions and please help share the love on social media. I’d love you all to get involved.

Simon Wright and Andy V – Live on Koh Tao Loop cover EP

Simon Wright and Andy V sweating it up at Choppers 6 June 2014

In June 2014 I met up with Andy V on Koh Tao in the Thai Gulf to play a string of shows over 12 days. We played every night except one in two venues. Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays we would play at an Aussie Bar named Choppers and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays we would play at a bar on the beach named Fishbowl. Though Andy and I have played a lot of music together in the past it had been almost 3 years since our last jam (With the exception of one hip little gig at a whiskey bar in Byron Bay). In this time both Andy and myself had started playing with the Boss RC loop stations. I am on Beatbox, guitar, vocals and MCing and Andy takes control of bass, keys, sax and vocals. It’s amazing what two guys with loop stations can get cooking.

It was great fun working with Andy, I learnt a lot and played some of the best music of my life in a tropical paradise. Good times.

On the 17th Dec this year Shane, Richy and I went into the BayFm and recorded a live performance and interview with Alistare on Live and Local.

Alistare started Live and Local about 6 months ago and amazingly my dad and I were the first live act. It’s a great show, showcasing local Byron talent with the occasional touring act. It’s  worth checking out. It’s on every Sunday at 11am till 2pm and you can listen too it from anywhere on the net. Here is the link http://www.bayfm.org/
